Swimming pools and leisure centres are so important to our communities. They are where we socialise, exercise, lead healthier lifestyles and where our children learn vital life skills like swimming.

We are really lucky in West Lancashire that two of our swimming pools are being rebuilt. But because the Government decided not to award West Lancashire any levelling up funding, the diving facilities at the Nye Bevan pool in Skelmersdale are at risk.

Earlier this year, I visited Burscough Diving Club. The diving facilities at Skelmersdale are vitally important to their activities. The next nearest and only other diving facilities in the whole North West region are in Manchester.

I raised the issue of our diving facilities in Skelmersdale when I appeared on Politics North West on Sunday.

If we were to lose our diving facilities in Skem, Burscough Diving Club and others who enjoy the facilities at present, would have to travel as far afield as Manchester or even Bradford to be able to dive.

I will continue to speak up about this issue and will always fight for better services and facilities for West Lancashire.
