I have today (Thursday 8 October) launched my Christmas card competition with schools across the constituency.

The competition is aimed at year 5 pupils and is a perfect opportunity for them to engage with their local MP. Students have until 30 October to submit their designs, which must feature West Lancashire, to my office.

I started the competition last year, with winning design from Oscar, pupil of Ormskirk West End Primary School, featuring on the front of my Christmas card.

For this year, the winning design and runners up will once again feature on my card, which will be sent to fellow MPs including Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and West Lancashire stakeholders.

The launch of this competition comes as Ashley also encourages schools and local organisations to get involved in UK Parliament Week 23-29 November.

“I’m launching my Christmas card competition for the second year, after so much interest last year from local schools.

“I’m asking pupils to design a card featuring West Lancashire, to encourage them to think about what it means to be part of our local community, especially at a time like Christmas. This is a really exciting opportunity for them to learn about Parliament, as well as potentially feature on a card to the Prime Minister!

“I’ll be visiting the winning school to congratulate the child and tell them about my role as their local MP.”
